Women Divers Hold Tri-Meet with Drexel and Rider

Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey’s women’s diving team held a tri-meet with Division I Drexel University and Rider University in TCNJ’s Aquatic Center on Thursday afternoon.  There was no team scoring but the individual scores count towards qualifying for the 2004 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in March.

For TCNJ, senior tri-captain Kristen Simms (Mt. Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) scored 276.20 in the one-meter event and 279.70 in the three-meter event to best all divers.  Sophomore Tiffany Monroe (Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) was fourth in the one-meter with 239.55 and fifth in the three-meter with 225.50, while freshman Lee Swanson (Princeton Junction, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) was fourth in the three-meter with 237.40 and fifth in the one-meter with 232.50.

Senior Erin Moore (Northfield, NJ/Holy Spirit) of Rider was second in both events with a score of 265.15 in the one-meter event and a score of 248.20 in the three-meter.  Junior Lisa Ferragano (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) posted a 195.02 in the one-meter and a 174.90 in the three-meter to finish sixth in both events.

Drexel’s sophomore Evamarie Guerrieri (Ventnor, NJ/Holy Spirit) took third in both events with scores of 253.55 in the one-meter and 243.95 in the three-meter.

Although the Lions have no male divers this season, there were two from Drexel and two from Rider competing.  Drexel’s senior Anthony Perry (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) won both events as he posted a score of 333.60 in the one-meter and 340.75 in the three-meter.  Junior Steve Reustle (Newtown, PA/Council Rock) was second in the one-meter with 289.90 and third in the three-meter with 186.05.

Sophomore Chris Coles (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro) of Rider was second in the three-meter with a score of 197.35 and fourth in the one-meter with 177.55, while senior Kevin Nervi (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) was third in the one-meter with 179.80 and fourth in the three-meter with 173.30.

TCNJ’s swimming & diving teams will be in Aruba for winter training on January 5-14 before hosting Johns Hopkins University and West Chester University in a tri-meet on January 16-17.
