Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey’s women’s swimming & diving team hosted New York University on Senior Day in TCNJ’s Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon. The women posted a 147-95 win over NYU (5-3) to improve to 4-4 on the year.
Prior to the meet the women honored its six seniors: tri-captain Aubrey Horvath (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough), Jill Iacchei (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll), Jacquelyn Nami (Yardville, NJ/Steinert), tri-captain Lauren O’Donnell (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), Natalie Rawson (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) and tri-captain and diver Kristen Simms (Mt. Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional).
TCNJ captured eight of 13 events this afternoon. Horvath and freshman Kendall Warren (Dowingtown, PA/Dowingtown) led the Lions with three first-place finishes each.
Horvath swam an NCAA “B” cut of 24.30 to capture the 50 free and then won the 100 free with a time of 53.80, just missing an NCAA provisional time by a hundredth of a second. Warren took first in both the 200 free in 1:59.77 and the 100 back in 1:02.93. Both Horvath and Warren were on the winning 200 free relay (1:43.34).
Simms won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events with scores of 281.90 and 275.80, respectively. Sophomore Tiffany Monroe (Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) took second in the three-meter with 273.05. Simms and Monroe’s scores in the three-meter event were NCAA qualifying marks.
For NYU, sophomore Erika Norris (Redmond, WA/Interlake) helped her team capture the 200 medley relay, while winning both the 200 IM (2:14.33) and the 100 fly (1:00.29).
