Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey’s women’s swimming & diving team hosted Rowan University in TCNJ’s Aquatic Center on Wednesday night. In the women’s race, TCNJ pulled out the 126-117 win by winning the last event – the 400 free relay. The Lion women improve to 5-4 on the year, while Rowan suffers its first dual meet loss and falls to 5-1.TCNJ captured eight of 13 events tonight with senior Aubrey Horvath (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and sophomore Erin Stutz (Cedar Grove, NJ/The Montclair Kimberly Academy) led the Lions with two individual first-place finishes each.
Horvath swam an NCAA “B” cut of 24.29 to capture the 50 free and an NCAA “B” cut of 53.45 to win the 100 free. Stutz took first in both the 1000 free in 11:09.39 and the 200 IM in 2:15.66. Horvath was also on the winning 400 free relay.
This week’s ECAC Division III Diver of the Week, Simms won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events with scores of 271.10 and 281.00, respectively. Sophomore Tiffany Monroe (Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) took second in both the one-meter and three-meter with scores of 230.25 and 253.55, respectively.
Senior Christine Larkin (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) took first in the 200 back in 2:14.70, while sophomore Amanda Rivera (Bergenfield, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) captured the 200 breast in 2:34.84. Freshman Caitlin Ayres (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) was also a winner for the Profs in the 200 fly with a time of 2:14.54. Larkin, Rivera, and Ayres swam on the winning 400 medley relay (4:11.10).
