Fredericksburg, VA… The College of New Jersey women's soccer team scored twice in the second half to come away with a 2-0 triumph on Sunday at the University of Mary Washington.
The Lions are now 8-3-1 on the season, while the Eagles dropped to 7-4-4.
After a scoreless first half, senior Jamie Kunkel (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) netted what turned out to be the eventual game winning 4:30 into the new period.
TCNJ added an insurance goal later in the half as senior Erin Cunliffe (Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) tallied her team-leading seventh goal of the year. That marked was assisted by junior Momoko Aoe (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ/Northern Highland).
TCNJ keeper Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) made one save for her third shutout of the season.
The Lions return to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, October 15 with a key road contest at Richard Stockton College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
