Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey's men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the new season on Saturday in TCNJ's Aquatic Center hosting New Jersey Athletic Conference opponent Montclair State University. TCNJ's men's team posted a 148-128 win to improve to 1-0 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC. The Lion women's team added a 193.5-105.5 win as well and are also 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC. MSU's men's and women's teams fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC.
TCNJ's sophomore
Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) had a strong performance in the first meet of the season as she won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:42.84, just seconds off her own school record performance of a year ago. Molloy also won the 100 backstroke in 1:03.91.
The Lions opened the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay in 4:11.00 behind the efforts of senior

Katie Morgan (Westfield, NJ/Westfield), rookie
Leah Varvaro (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township), and freshman

Morgan won the 50 breaststroke in 32.45, while junior
Christina Falcone (Newtown, PA/Notre Dame) won the 500 butterfly in 27.66.
Senior
Emily Reichard (Voorhees, NJ/East Regional) took first in the 50 backstroke in 30.93, while classmate
Stefanie Rashti (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) won the 100 freestyle in 57.01 and took second in the 500 freestyle in 5:33.61.
Rookie
Melissa Hessler (Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) was a double winner taking the 400 individual medley in 4:52.85 and the 200 freestyle in 1:59.86. In the 100 butterfly, rookie
Laura Pierce (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) won a victor in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.38. Junior
Brittany Collyer (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.45 and finished in second in the 50 freestyle in 26.07.
Junior
Ashley Robb (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) won the 50 freestyle in 26.02, while sophomore diver
Amanda Obst (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) won the one meter event with her performance on 159.45.
For the Red Hawks, they won the 200 freestyle relay behind the efforts of freshman Lauren Uckar (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan), sophomore Raquel Erwin (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood), freshman Nicole Van Avery (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick), and sophomore Kaitlin Muchler (Vineland, NJ/Vineland). Uckar took third in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.79 and second in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.42.
Sophomore Galina Loutchouk (Richboro, PA/Council Rock) won the 500 freestyle in 5:33.58 and Van Avery added a second in the 50 backstroke in 31.02.
TCNJ will host Stevens on Sunday, October 26 in a 2 p.m. meet in TCNJ's Aquatic Center.
