Lions beat CSI to win Stevens Tip-Off Tournament

Hoboken, NJ… The College of New Jersey women’s basketball team won the Stevens Tip-Off Tournament on Sunday as the Lions coasted past College of Staten Island by the score 81-55.

Senior Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) finished with 15 points and seven rebounds in the win shooting a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor. For the tournament she made 19-of-21 shots from the floor and averaged 20 points and was rewarded by being named the most valuable player..

The center had plenty of support on Sunday as three other Lions scored in double figures with senior Alyssa Michella (Washington, TWP., NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) leading the way with 19 points, including five 3-pointers. She also pulled down seven boards. Sophomore Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) contributed with 16 points and junior Alexandra Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Lions (2-0) are back in action on Tuesday playing at Mount Saint Vincent College for a 7 p.m. start.
