Box Score

Ewing, NJ... Cabrini College’s Caitlin Donahue (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made a game-high nine saves backstopping the Cavaliers to a 1-0 upset of The College of New Jersey field hockey team on Thursday at Lions’ Stadium.

The loss put the 12th-ranked Lions at 7-4 on the season, while Cabrini improved to 7-9.

Donahue made five saves in the opening half and then four more in the second, but her biggest stop came early on the contest making a diving save on a penalty stroke.

The Cavaliers then netted the game’s only goal just over two minutes later as sophomore Lauren Alessi (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway) as she knocked in her own rebound for the goal. That goal came at the 7:53 mark.

TCNJ had its chances as it held a decisive 21-2 edge in penalty corners.

Sophomore Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) had a pair of saves for the Lions.

TCNJ is home again on Saturday, October 24 hosting top-ranked Messiah College in an 8 p.m. start in Lins’ Stadium, while the Cavaliers are also in action that day heading to Gwynedd-Mercy College for a 3 p.m. contest.
