Pomona, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's cross championship won their 16th consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference championship and 21st league title overall at Richard Stockton College. The Lions claimed the 2009 crown with a team score of 31, defeating the field and second place finisher Ramapo who had 55 points.
Junior
T.J. Bocchino (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) led all TCNJ runners posting a second-place finishing time of 26:37.61. Junior
Dennie Waite (Little Silver, NJ/Red Bank Regional) and freshman
Max Sparshatt (Rumson, NJ/Rumson Fair Haven) were instrumental in copping the title as they Waite placed fourth (27:03.60) and Sparshatt was right behind him in his first NJAC championship race finishing fifth (27:04.41).
Sophomore
Kevin Schickling (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had a great day coming in ninth place with a time of 27:25.22. Senior
Brandon Rodkewitz (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills), who placed 24th in the 2008 championships, improved to 15th place in 2009 crossing the line in 27:54.28.
Kyle Price of Ramapo College took first place with a time of 26:21.88.
The next event for the men's team is the ECAC Championships held at Williams College in Williamstown, PA on Saturday, November 7 at 11 a.m.
