Willingboro, NJ... The doubles team of Jonathan Yu (Hamilton Square, NJ/Steinert) and Dean Thompson (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) nearly came up just short in their bid for the tournament crown at the 2009 Fall Eastern Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals on Sunday.

In the finals, Yu and Thompson dropped a tight 9-8 (7-4) decision to fourth-seeded Taylor Borda and Josh Rifkin from Ithaca College.

TCNJ's pair, which was unseeded in the tournament, started the final day of competition strong as they knocked off third-seeded Carl-Eric Girardin and Richard Granger from Skidmore College. Yu and Thompson won that match by the score of 8-4.

The team finished the three-day tournament with a record of 4-1.
