NJAC Release
Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey field hockey team had a host of players recognized for their effort on the field as they reeled in All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honors.
The Lions had three players tabbed All-NJAC First Team as junior Jessica Falcone (Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic), junior Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright), and Alex Okuniewicz (Toms River, NJ/South) each earned that honor. Junior Kellyn Riley (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West), freshman Caitlyn Jenkins (Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway), and freshman Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) all were named All-NJAC Honorable Mention.
Falcone was key player for the Lions on the front line as she ranked among the team leaders with five goals and added a pair of assists. She also contributed with a pair of game-winning goals.
Waller was an anchor in the midfield as she earned all-conference recognition for the second straight year. Waller earned honorable mention a season ago and this year chipped in with two goals and two assists, along with a team-leading six defensive saves.
Okuniewicz excelled at both ends of the field as the defender ranked second on the team with seven goals and added two assists. She also recorded three defensive saves.
Jenkins had a very successful first season at TCNJ as she led the team in goals (10) and points (22). Two of those goals were also game winners.
Riley tied for second on the team in points with six goals and a team-best five assists.
Passucci started all 15 games for the Lions and was part of a defensive unit that posted four shutouts. Offensively, she finished with one goal and three assists.
The Lions finished the regular season with a 9-6 record and finished second in the conference with a mark of 5-1.
