Five student-athletes representing The College of New Jersey were honored by the New Jersey Athletic Conference for their performances during the week ending November 15, 2009.
Women's soccer player
Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne) received Defensive Player of the Week honors for her efforts in the opening two rounds of the NCAA tournament. Clarke registered a pair of shutouts as the Lions defeated Plattsburgh State 2-0 and Amhearst College 4-0.
Men's swimmer
Myles O'Connor (Los Angeles, CA/Santa Monica J.C.) earned Swimmer of the Week honors for his contributions to a 133.5-71.5 dual-meet win over Franklin & Marshall College and for his performance in the Princeton Invitational. O'Connor qualified for the NCAA 'B' cut with a time of 58.17 i nthe 100-yard breastroke.
TJ Burns
(Clarks Summit, NJ/Clarks Summit) was selected Diver of the Week by the NJAC for his first-place finishes in the one-meter and three-meter events against Franklin & Marshall College.
Women's swimmer
Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) received NJAC Swimmer of the Week honors for her performances in a victory over Franklin & Marshall College and at the Princeton Invitational. Molloy posted three, first-place finishes against the Diplomats and qualified for the NCAA 'B' cut with a time of 17:42.52 in the 1650-yard freestyle event.
Freshman cross country runner Max Sparshatt (
Rumson, NJ/Rumson Fair Haven) was selected as the NJAC Rookie of the Week for his performance in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships held in Morris, NY. Sparshatt ran a time of 26:21 in the 8k race and placed 44th out of 264 runners.
