Four seniors receive All-NJAC football honors


All-NJAC Teams

Ewing, NJ … The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its 2009 All-Conference Football Teams and four members of The College of New Jersey football squad received honors.

Senior punter Marc Zucconi (Marlton, NJ/Holy Cross) was selected to the First Team Special Teams. Zucconi led the NJAC averaging 41.9 yards per punt in 2009. He had six punts over 50 yards, including a career-long 70-yard punt against Morrisville State. Zucconi was an honorable mention All-NJAC selection in 2008.

Senior wide receiver Colin Weber (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) was an All-NJAC Second Team selection. Weber caught 35 passes for 582 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 14.4 yards per catch and 58.2 yards per game in 2009. Weber eclipsed the 100-yard receiving mark in a game twice including a career high 199 receiving yards on six catches and two touchdowns against Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham.

Senior quarterback Chris James (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) and senior defensive lineman Craig Meyer (Far Hills, NJ/Bernards) were both All-NJAC honorable mention selections. James completed 131 passes for 1,757 yards and 14 touchdowns. He threw for over 300 yards in three different games (season-high 358 against FDU-Florham) and struck for four touchdown passes against Morrisville State. James also rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns in 2009.

Meyer, a tri-captain for the Lions 2009 squad, finished the season with 40 tackles (19 solo). He also had two forced fumbles, a pass break-up, and a pair of sacks for a loss of six yards. Meyer had his best game of the season against Western Connecticut State University when he compiled seven tackles (5 solo), two sacks, forced a fumble, and broke up a pass.
