Box Score

Williamstown, MA... The College of New Jersey women’s soccer team continued its run through the 2009 NCAA Division III Tournament with its biggest win yet as the Lions knocked of undefeated and second-ranked Williams College on its home field on Saturday, 1-0.

The win propels TCNJ (19-2-1) into the national quarterfinals where they will face 15th-ranked Ithaca College on Sunday, November 22 at 1 p.m. The Bombers advanced with a 2-1 overtime win over Rowan University. That game will also be played in Williamstown, MA.

The loss was the first of the season for the Ephs as they finished the year 19-1.

It was a reversal from the same time last year when Williams ended TCNJ’s season when the Ephs netted a 2-1 win over the Lions in the exact same location and round of the 2008 tournament.

TCNJ scored the only goal of this year’s game 64:56 into the match as freshman Allyson Anderson (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant) scored unassisted. The goal was her eighth of the season and her third game winner. Anderson has been the offensive catalyst for the Lions in the tournament picking up at least one point in each of the three games. In those games she has a pair of goals and one assist.

Another key cog for the Lions in the win was senior keeper Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley). Clarke tied a season high with nine saves as she garnered her 15th shutout of the season.
