Complete All-NJAC selections
Pitman, NJ ... Entering their New Jersey Athletic Conference tournament match this evening, it was announced that four senior members of The College of New Jersey men’s soccer team were selected to all-conference teams for their standout play during the 2009 regular season.
Forward
Kevin Luber (Delran, NJ/Delran) was named to the All-NJAC First Team. Midfielder Anthony
Staropoli (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) received All-NJAC Second Team honors, while midfielder
Brian Galicia (Brick, NJ/Ocean Township) and defensive back
Adam Dorflinger (Seargentsville, NJ/Hunterdon Central) were named All-NJAC Honorable Mention.
Luber was named to All-NJAC First Team for the second consecutive year. Luber led the team in goals (6), assists (8), and points (20). Luber recorded his second career hat trick in a 4-2 victory over conference opponent Rutgers University-Camden. His game-winning goal against Rutgers University-Newark in a 1-0 win propelled TCNJ to a first-round bye and a second seed in the NJJAC post-season tournament.
Staropoli received second team honors for his play in the midfield and defensive backfield. Staropoli was second on the team in goals (4), assists (3), and points (11). Three of his four goals were game-winners, including a golden goal in the Lions double-overtime win over Kean University 2-1. Staropolo was also an All-NJAC Second Team selection in 2008.
Galicia received honorable mention honors for his skillful play in the midfield. He scored a pair of goals that contributed to a 3-2 win at UNC-Wesleyan and a 1-1 tie at Rowan University.
Dorflinger is an honorable mention selection for the second straight year. He had an assist in a conference win over Rutgers University-Camden and led a defensive backfield that registered four shutouts and surrendered just 1.44 goals per game.
