Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey had a pair of student-athletes honored for their work in the classroom in addition to their efforts on the football field. Seniors Colin Weber (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) and Evan Arfuso (Dumont, NJ/Dumont) were named to CoSIDA's ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II College Division First Team.
Both players will now be placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-American ballot.
Weber is an interdisciplinary business major and possesses a grade point average of 3.34. He is the leading wide receiver for the Lions with 33 catches, six touchdown receptions and 69.8 receiving yards per game. Weber ranks third in the New Jersey Athletic Conference in yards per game, fifth in receptions per game (4.1), and 11th in points per game (4.5). Weber is a TCNJ Scholar Athlete and was a member of the 2008-09 All-NJAC Academic Team Honorable Mention.
Arfuso is a criminology and justice major owning a grade point average of 3.67. He is a starter who anchors an offensive line for a Lions team that set school records for total yards in a game (708) and points in a game (67) this season. TCNJ is also 20 points away from the all-time record for points scored in a season with two games remaining. A Dean’s List student since his freshman year, Arfuso is a TCNJ Scholar Athlete and was a member of the 2008-09 All-NJAC Academic Team Honorable Mention.
TCNJ football hosts Western Connecticut State University at Lions’ Stadium Saturday, November 7 at noon. Tomorrow is the final home game of the season for the Lions.
