DMR sets school record with automatic NCAA time

The College of New Jersey women's indoor track and field teamsturned in a host of solid performances on a light opening day of the ECAC Championships on Friday at Tufts University.

Action resumes on Saturday with the first event getting underway at 10 a.m.

TCNJ's distance medley relay team of senior Stephanie Herrick (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley), sophomore Meryl Wimberly (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck), junior Jianna Spadaccini (Butler, NJ/Butler), and freshman Claire Johnson (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) combined for a time of 11:49.73 to place second. That time automatically qualified for next weekend's NCAA Division III Championships and was a school record.

Senior Kirsten Gerbehy (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) placed fourth in the pentathlon as she collected 2,844 points.

In the 5,000 meters, senior Martine McGrath (West Long Branch, NJ/Shore Regional) finished fourth with a time of 17:50.82, while classmate Megan Donovan (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) finished 15th in 18:49.33.

Junior Priscilla Senyah (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) finished second in her heat of the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58 to advance into Saturday's finals.
