No. 3 Kean handles TCNJ in NJAC play

Union, NJ…Third-ranked Kean University proved too much for The College of New Jersey women’s basketball team as the Cougars picked up a 79-43 win over the Lions on Wednesday in Union.

The loss halted TCNJ’s modest four-game winning streak as the Lions feel to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

The win was the 18th straight win for the Cougars since they opened the season with a loss at NCAA Division I Rutgers University. Kean is 18-1 overall and 7-0 in the NJAC.

The Lions opened with the game’s first points, but the hosts then gained control with 18 straight points and eventually held a 51-18 advantage at the half.

TCNJ played better in the second half as the Cougars held a small 28-25 edge in the final 20 minutes making the final 79-43.

Sophomore Jessica Imhof (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) led the Lions with 12 points and seven rebounds, while junior Stephanie Prall (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and freshman Megan Hartline (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) each finished with seven points.

TCNJ returns home on Saturday, January 22 for another NJAC contest hosting Montclair State University at 1 p.m. in Packer Hall.
