Haverford, PA... The College of New Jersey men's indoor track and field teams continued to garner numerous championships qualifying marks as the Lions competed at the McElligot Invitational hosted by Haverford College on Saturday.
The Lions dominated the 55-meter dash taking the top three spots led by sophomore Robert Jiggetts (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) as he crossed the finish line first in 6.59 seconds, which met ECAC qualifying standards. Junior Jule Brooks (Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City) was second in 6.74 seconds with junior Kyle Gilroy (Oak Ridge, NJ/West Milford Township) right behind him in third at 6.77.
Gilroy added an ECAC worthy time in the 55-meter hurdles as he won the race with a time of 7.86 seconds, with teammate Tim White (Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) in fourth in 8.54.
Sophomore Colin Gold (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) won the pole vault clearing 4.27 meters, while teammate Tim Blashford (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) was third.
Brooks added a second-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 23.34 seconds, while freshman Kyle Magliaro (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was fifth in 23.50.
Freshman Robert Searby (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) took second in the 400 meters with a clocking of 52.06 seconds and Maximillian Sparshatt (Rumson, NJ/Rumson) was third in the mile with a time of 4:23.07, which was an ECAC qualifying mark.
In the field events, freshman Steve D’Aiutolo (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) sailed 6.31 meters to take third in the long jump and Kavan Latham (Delran, NJ/Delran) finished in that same spot in the shot put with a toss of 13.43 meters.
