Springfield gets past TCNJ, 25-16

Springfield, MA... The College of New Jersey wrestling team dropped its second straight dual meet as the Lions fell to host Springfield College, 25-16, on Sunday.

The loss dropped TCNJ to 17-4 on the season.

The Lions picked up four wins in the dual meet with Dan Herr (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) getting the first of those with a 2-0 victory at 133 pounds.

In the latter stages of the dual meet, TCNJ reeled off three straight wins with Dan DiColo (Budd Lake, NJ/Mt. Olive) bumping up to 165 pounds and he responded with a 10-2 major decision. Freshman Brian Broderick (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) then held on for a 6-5 win at 174 pounds before junior Mike Denver (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) recorded the team’s final win at 184 with a third-period pin in 5:30.

TCNJ closes out the regular season on Saturday, February 6 heading to Oswego State to take on the Lakers in a noon start.
