Princeton, NJ... The College of New Jersey got off to a fast start in its indoor track and field season competing at the New Year Invitational hosted by Princeton University on Saturday as the women's indoor team collected several post-season qualifying marks.
The meet featured 11 institutions, including the Lions along with Lafayette, Manhattan, Montclair State, Ramapo, Rider, Rutgers, St. Joseph's, St. Thomas Aquinas, Towson, and Westchester.
Freshman
Brigit Roemer (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) got her career at TCNJ off to a very impressive start as she picked up a NCAA provisional time in the high jump clearing 1.69 meters as she won the event.
Senior
Meryl Wimberley (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck) kicked off the season with a fourth-place effort in the 600 meters with an ECAC worthy time of 1:39.17. Classmate
Sarah Wehrhan (Dodge City, KS/The Peddie School) also had a top-10 finish and ECAC qualifying mark in the weight throw as she claimed fifth with a toss of 14.67 meters.
Freshman
Micheaux Ferdinand (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) boasted an ECAC mark in her first collegiate meet as she finished the 60-hurdles in 9.56 seconds.
