Ewing, NJ… A day after pulling out an exciting 5-4 victory, The College of New Jersey men’s tennis team came out on the end of that same narrow score on Sunday as the Lions dropped a close decision to nationally-ranked Kalamazoo College.
The 5-4 loss dropped the Lions to 4-3 on the season, while the 13th-ranked Hornets won their sixth straight match to improve to 6-1.
TCNJ won two points in both doubles and singles with Jonathan Yu (Hamilton Square, NJ/Steinert) winning 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 at fourth singles, while Dan Lee (Abington, PA/Abington) posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the sixth position.
In doubles, TJ Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Moorestown) and Dean Thompson (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) picked up an 8-5 triumph in the second slot, while the third pairing of Yu and Lee won 9-8 after winning the tiebreaker, 7-2.
The Lions are off until next weekend when they head to Hobart College in Geneva, NY to take on the Statesmen and St. Lawrence University for a pair matches.
