NJAC Release
Ewing, NJ...The College of New Jersey women’s lacrosse team was selected as the pre-season favorite in the New Jersey Athletic Conference in a poll of the conference’s head coaches.
The Lions, currently ranked fifth in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association Division III poll, garnered five of the six first-place votes with rival Rowan University getting that other vote. The Profs were picked to finish second.
The NJAC sponsored women’s lacrosse as a championship sport for the first time in 2009 with the Lions winning the initial crown with a perfect 4-0 record. The conference has grown by one school this season as Rutgers University-Camden has added women’s lacrosse as a varsity program this spring.
The Lions open the season on Friday, March 12 heading to St. Mary’s College (MD) for a 4 p.m. start. TCNJ kicks off conference play Tuesday, April 6 taking on Rutgers-Camden in a 7 p.m. start in Lions’ Stadium.
TCNJ is coming off of a 16-3 season where they captured their first New Jersey Athletic Conference title in conference history and advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
