Women's track and field dominate host invitational

Meet results

Ewing, NJ ... TCNJ Women's Track and Field team saw great individual success at the NJ Invitational. Hosting the event, the lions did not disappoint posting some fast times and high finishes. 

In the women's 1500 meters, two lions placed in the top ten as sophomore Katie Nestor (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) took 1st place with a time of (4:48:24) and fellow classmate Cassy Valdes (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) took 9th place with a time of (5:11:43). 

The women's 4x100 meter relay saw two TCNJ teams place second and third. The TCNJ 'C' squad of Brielle Doremus (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex), Rochelle Prevard (Sicklerville, NJ/Sicklerville), Meghan Miller (Sayerville,NJ/Sayerville War Memorial), and anchor Nicole Brown (Somerset, NJ/Franklin) posted the second place time of (51.82) and the TCNJ 'B' relay team of Katie Landrigan, Kayla Ghanavati (Seaville, NJ/Ocean City), Kim Shelus (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) and anchor Cori Brown (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) took third with a time of (52.23).

The 4x400 relay team of Kayla Ghanavati, Kim Shelus, Emma Tucci (Verona,NJ/Verona), and Rochelle Prevard took first place with a combined time of (4:07.59). 

Racing past the competition in the W\women's 100 Meter Hurdle, Senior Priscilla Senyah (Sayerville, NJ/Sayerville War Memorial) followed her NJAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the week award with another outstanding race. Senyah finished with a time of (14.89) and was followed by fellow senior Meghan Miller with a time of (16.32), who also placed second in the 400 meter Hurdle,and freshman Brielle Doremus with a time of (16.49).

Doremus enjoyed individual success throughout the day as she was the first leg of the second place 4x100 meter relay team, and finished second in the Women's Triple Jump, jumping (10.43m).
Juniors, Miriam Khan (Titusville,NJ/Hopewell Valley) and Tiffany Etheredge (Newark,NJ/Central) took first and third in the Women's 100 Meter Dash posting times of (12.32) and (12.99) respectively. 

Etheredge followed her success in the 100 with a first place finish in the Women's 200 Meter Dash with a time of (27.15). Finishing right behind her in second and third were two lions, Kim Shelus (27.32) and Kayla Ghanavati (27.36). Ghanavati, who also was part of the third place 4x100 Women's relay team followed up her stellar performances by winning the women's 400 meter dash with a time of (1:02:99). 

In field events, Sarah Wehrhan (Dodge City,KS/ The Peddie School) took second in the women's discus throw and first in Women's Hammer Throw. Emma Tucci hopped off the track to compete in the Women's Javelin Throw where a distance (35.91m) was the top mark.
