2010 All-NJAC Teams
Ewing, NJ... The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced six members of The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team earned First Team All-Conference honors for the 2010 season. Three of those players were also cited as Player of the Year in their respective positions.
Junior Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) was named Attack Player of the Year, sophomore Kathleen Notos (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) was selected as Midfielder of the Year, and junior Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) was named Goaltender of the Year. Jaeger, Notos, and Waller were also NJAC First Team selections in 2009.
Senior Lisa Seldeen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) was selected to the 2010 NJAC First Team as an attacker, while junior Kelly Brennan (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and sophomore Leigh Mitchell (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) were top conference honorees at defensive positions.
A three-time NJAC Player of the Week selection, Jaager was named the league's top attack player for the second consecutive season. She currently leads the NJAC in both points per game (5.71) and goals per game (4.41). In the latest NCAA Division III statistics, Jaeger ranks seventh in the nation in total points (97) and sixth in total goals (75).
Notos was named the league's Midfielder of the Year, marking the second consecutive season that a Lion has garnered the honor. The 2009 NJAC Rookie of the Year selection currently leads the NJAC in draw controls per game (4.94). Notos currently ranks 10th in the NJAC in goals per game (2.24) and 12th in the league in points per game (2.59).
Waller, who was named NJAC Goaltender of the Year for the second consecutive season, currently leads all NJAC goalies with a 7.54 goals against average. Against NJAC competition, she recorded a 5.57 goals-against average during a league-high 290 minutes played.
Seldeen enters the NCAA tournament with a balanced scoring line netting 36 goals while dishing out 34 assists. Mitchell, a three-time Player of the Week recipient, fired 48 shots that found a home between the pipes and assisted on 36 goals for 84 points. Brennan commandeered a Lions defense that allowed just 7.47 goals per game. She also caused 17 turnovers and picked up 12 ground balls during the season.
TCNJ (14-3) will host Cabrini College (11-7) in the first round of the 2010 Division NCAA Championships on Wednesday, May 12 at 4 p.m.
