Ewing, NJ... The College of New Jersey has been one of the premier women's soccer programs at the NCAA Division III level since it first took the field in 1990. This season, the Lions are hoping a former Division I All-American will add to the program's success as the Lions have added Kylee Rossi to its coaching staff.
Rossi has strong ties to the area as she was standout at The Pennington School before making her mark as a player at the University of Tennessee from 2005 through the 2008 season. She also got her first taste of the coaching ranks last fall as she served as student assistant for the Volunteers.
"I am very excited to be a part of this great women's soccer tradition here at TCNJ. Coach (Joe) Russo and Coach (Bob) Turner have a great deal of knowledge and experience and I looking forward to working with them and taking it all in,” Rossi noted. “I hope I can contribute to the continued success of the program and be a part of winning a National Championship this coming fall."
Rossi reeled in countless honors playing for the Lady Vols, including being tabbed as the 2006 and 2007 Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Year. In addition, she was a four-time All-SEC selection and a two-time All-American.
She left Tennessee as program's all-time leading scorer and is the only player to lead the team in scoring four straight years.
She earned her degree in sports management with minor in business.
Prior to Knoxville, the Pennington native played at The Pennington School where she was a 2004 NSCAA/adidas Youth and Parade Magazine All-American and a two-time New Jersey Prep School Player of the Year (2003 and 2004).
“I'm ecstatic that Kylee has decided to join our staff,” boasted TCNJ head coach Joe Russo. “With her past experiences at the top level, it is very much welcomed here. She brings a refreshing outlook to the program along with an abundance of enthusiasm.”
Rossi and the rest of the Lion program will make their 2010 debut on Wednesday, September 1 at Drew University. TCNJ enters the season ranked third in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll.
