Madison, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's soccer team started the 2010 season on a winning note as the Lions used a goal late in the first half to secure a 1-0 victory at Drew University on Wednesday.

Sophomore Michelle Canning (Wall, NJ/St. Rose Belmar) made her first collegiate goal a game winner as she cashed in off of a corner kick with 2:35 remaining before the half. Junior Nikki Migliori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) initiated the play taking the corner kick before junior Jaclyn Greco (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) touched the ball to Canning for the goal..

Freshman keeper Kendra Griffith (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) made one save for the shutout as she notched the first win of her Lion career.

TCNJ is back on the field competing in the Blue Jay Classic hosted by Elizabethtown College. The Lions open with Bridgewater College on Saturday, September 4 before taking on the University of La Verne the following day.
