Columbus, OH...The College of New Jersey women's indoor track and field team saved its best for last at the 2011 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at Capital University as the Lions had three individuals place in the top five of their respective events, while securing All-American honors.
These Lions each earned their citation by placing in the top eight.
TCNJ also excelled as a team as they placed ninth overall with 17 points.
Senior
Meryl Wimberley (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck) capped her standout indoor career with a third-place finish in the 800 meters running a time of 2:12.33 to earn All-American honors.
Freshman
Brigit Roemer (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) had a successful NCAA debut as she was third in the high jump clearing the bar at 5'6-1/2” for her first All-American citation.
Senior
Miriam Khan (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley) added another high finish for the Lions taking fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.18 seconds, just missing her own school mark by .01 of a second.
On the opening night of the championships, the distance medley relay team finished eighth adding to the list of All-American citations the Lions earned at the championship meet.
