Meet results
Mahwah, NJ ... The College of New Jersey women's outdoor track and field team placed third out of 16 compete schools at the Roadrunner Invitational this weekend hosted by Ramapo College. They had the top score of any Division III program at the event.
The Lions had a number of outstanding individual performances led senior
Brianna Brennan who posted an NCAA qualifying distance of 39.60 meters in the javelin throw. Several of her teammates also earned ECAC qualifiers at the event, including senior
Sarah Wehrhan who posted qualifiers in the shot put and hammer throw.
In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman
Katie Knight, sophomore
Brielle Doremus, and freshman
Micheaux Ferdinand each posted ECAC qualifying times. Knight placed eighth overall with a time of 15.85. Doremus was 10th posting a finsh of 16.23 and Ferdinand was 11th crossing in 16.39.
Senior
Meryl Wimberley posted an ECAC qualifying mark in the 400-meter race when she placed second with a time of 57.99.
Freshman
Emily Kulcyk finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:05.05 to garner eight team points. Senior
Alexandra Tomaselli also earned points with a fifth place finish (1:06.71) along with junior
Nicole Brown who placed eighth with a time of 1:08.81.
Junior
Alyssa Bannon placed second in the 1500-meter race posting a time of 4:54.40. She also generated team points placing fourth in the 800-meter event crossing the finish line in 2:22.34. Classmate Cassy Valdes also earned points finishing sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:26.74
Freshman
Megan Flynn (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) had an impressive race in the 5000-meter event. She placed second with a time of 18:54.20 while senior
Brittany Erickson crossed the finish line in 19:29.99 to take fourth place.
The relay team of senior
Miriam Khan (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley), senior
Rochelle Prevard, Tomaselli, and Wimberley placed third in the 4x400 with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:03.04.
In field events, Brennan placed second in the javelin throw tossing the spear a distance of 39.60 meters, which is an NCAA provisional and ECAC qualifier. Junior
Emma Tucci took fifth overall with a throw of 35.74.
Freshman Emily Salko placed third in the high jump clearing 1.56 meters. Wehrhan took third in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying throw of 11.75 meters. Sophomore
Mary Chismar placed eighth with a distance of 10.72. Wehrhan also placed fifth in the hammer throw posting a distance of 44.58 meters, which was an ECAC qualifier.
The Lions host the New Jersey Invitational this weekend at The College of New Jersey.
