Bronx, NY… The College of New Jersey men's cross country team competed with over 30 teams in the 2011 Fordham Fiasco meet held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY.
In the men's 5-mile race, senior
Alex Yersak (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) led the Lions placing 63rd out of 214 runners finishing in 27:30.88. Classmate
Shaun McGeever (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) finished 88th overall posting a time of 28:08.45.
Sophomore
James Seyffart (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) ran a pace of 28:29.70 to finish 100th right on the button followed by junior
Mark Sidebottom (Montville, NJ/Montville) and senior Dom Docimo (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren Regional). Sidebottom crossed the line in 28:37.48 and Docimo in 28:47.48.
Don Cabral of Princeton University posted the top time of the day winning the event in 25:30.37.
The Lions finished 11th out of 16 schools and was the lone Division III school competing in their race.
Prior to the meet, a special ceremony took place to commemorate the attacks of September 11, 2001. Republican Peter King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee who represents New York's 3rd congressional district, served as guest speaker at the ceremony and starter of the event.
TCNJ is idle next week before competing in the Osprey Classic hosted by Richard Stockton College on Saturday, September 24.
