Galloway, NJ ... The College of New Jersey women's cross country team placed first out of six competing teams at the NJAIAW/Osprey Open hosted by Richard Stockton College.
Junior
Cathy Goncalves (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) crossed the finish line in front of all 65 runners, posting a winning time of 22:52.13 in the 6k event. It was the first collegiate win in a cross country race for Goncalves.
Senior Daniell Aran (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) was the runner-up finisher, posting a time of 23:04. Placing fourth in the race was senior
Rachel Morris (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) with a time of 23:07.62 and she was followed by sophomore
Anginelle Alabanza (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick), who finished in 23:12.66.
Overall, 12 TCNJ harriers claimed the top 14 spots and 16 Lion runners placed in the top 20. Sophomore
Megan Flynn (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) was sixth overall with a finish of 23:19.26 and senior
Alyssa Bannon was right behind her posting 23:33.31.
TCNJ is back in action next Friday when they compete in the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University.
