Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's cross country season opened on Saturday as the Lions played host to Division I schools Rider University and Saint Joseph's University in the Blue/Gold Classic held at Rosedale Park in Hopewell, NJ.
Coming off of his New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year honors in 2010, sophomore
Dominic Tasco (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) led all TCNJ harries in the 5k race finishing seventh overall with a time of 16:16.50. Senior
Andrew Herschman (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) ran a brisk time of 16:34.10 to place 12th, while classmates
Alex Yersak (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Shaun McGeever (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) crossed the finish line 15th and 16th respectively, posting times of 16:39.40 and 16:41.00.
Senior
Nick Bond (Middletown, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) and sophomore
James Seyffart (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) also finished in the top 25 for the Lions.
Rider University posted the top three times as freshman Anthony Dentino won the race with a finish of 15:55.90. Juniors Shawn Donohue and Greg Wesh took second and third place with times of 15:58.30 and 15:59.50. Rookie Paul Szulewski posted the top time for St. Joe's finishing fourth in 16:00.50.
TCNJ will travel to the Bronx, NY next weekend to compete at Van Cortlandt Park in the Fordham University Fiasco.
