Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's cross country season opened on Saturday as the Lions played host to Division I schools Rider University and Saint Joseph's University in the Blue/Gold Classic held at Rosedale Park in Hopewell, NJ.

Julie Jablonski (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) led the pack for TCNJ posting a time of 19:13.50 to finish eighth overall. Senior
Rachel Morris (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) was close behind her legging out a finish of 19:32.10 to take ninth place.

Danielle Aran (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan), sophomore
Megan Flynn (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville), and sophomore
Anginelle Alabanza (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) ran well for the Lions. Aran finished 11th with a time of 19:33.70, Flynn was 12th recording 19:36.50, and Alabanza placed 13th crossing the line in 19:36.90. Junior
Cathy Goncalves (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) also finished 15th overall with a time of 19:39.90
Broncs senior Heather Giovagnoli crossed the finish line first registering a winning time of 18:58.00. Teammate Megan Elgin was runner-up posting 19:04.00. Senior Katie Barrett and sophomore Hanah Fuller of St. Joe's placed third and fourth in the 5k race with times of 19:06.00 and 19:15.00.
TCNJ will travel to the Bronx, NY next weekend to compete at Van Cortlandt Park in the Fordham University Fiasco.
