TCNJ track, swimming dominates NJAC honors



Ewing, NJ...  The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced eight student-athletes from The College of New Jersey earned weekly honors for their performances during the week ending February 19, 2012.
 
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams each defended their Metropolitan Conference championship titles over the weekend. The men's team won its sixth straight and the women's has now won five in a row.
 
Senior TJ Burns (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights), who was named MET Diver of the Meet, was selected NJAC Diver of the Week. He won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events, setting school records in each. Freshman Aleksander Burzynski (Colonia, NJ/St. Jospeh's) earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for his performance in backstroke events and relay races.
 
On the women's side, junior Danica Roskos (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) also won MET Diver of the Meet honors, which helped her gain another NJAC Diver of the Week citation. Roskos also took the top spot in the 1- and 3-meter diving competitions. Freshman Brennah Ross (Paoli, PA/Cyber Charter School) was named NJAC Rookie of the Week, excelling in butterfly events and relay races.

At the New York University Division III Challenge, sophomore Erica Roberts (Newark, NJ/Science Park) won the triple-jump, landing a distance of 10.95 meters from the final stripe. In addition, she was a member of the winning 4x200 relay team and was selected NJAC Field Athlete of the Week. Freshman Katie Johnston (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) was also on that 4x200 relay team and placed second out of 19 runners in the 400-meter event to earn NJAC Rookie of the Week honors. 
 
Senior Christopher Medina (Lakewood, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) won the 60-meter dash in 6.89 second which tied a program record. For that performance he was named NJAC Track Athlete of the Week. Freshman Erik Moutenot (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) place third out of the 25 runners in the 800-meter event to earn NJAC Rookie of the Week honors.
