Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) has left her mark in a pair of sports at The College of New Jersey, but was also a standout student and she was cited for those efforts in the classroom and named to CoSIDA's Capital One Academic All-District II Women's At-Large First Team.
Mitchell recently graduated from TCNJ with a 3.61 grade-point-average with a mathematics statistics major and this spring she boasted a perfect 4.0 GPA. By being named first team all-district, she now moves onto the national ballot.
In the fall field hockey season, Mitchell earned All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention as the Lions captured the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship. The forward finished the season with six goals and 14 points and capped her career ranked eighth in program history with 52 goals and 10
th in points with 129.
It was a record-breaking spring for Mitchell on the lacrosse field as she became TCNJ's all-time leading scorer with 398 points, including a school record 85 assists. She added 17 goals for 102 points marking the third time during her career she broke the 100-point barrier. Mitchell is the only player in program history to accomplish that feat three times. The 2012 New Jersey Athletic Conference Attack Player of the Year also established single-game records for points in a game (13) and assists (10). She was also named All-NJAC First Team for the third straight year and to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Boardwalk Region First Team.
The Lions finished the lacrosse season advancing to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals and finished with a record of 16-4, including a perfect 5-0 mark in conference play.
