Alorro, Tasco set to compete at NCAA championships



Championship information

Ewing, NJ … Junior Julio Alorro (Creskill, NJ/Creskill) and sophomore Dominic Tasco (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), a pair of track athletes at The College of New Jersey, will compete in the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in Claremont, California this week.
 
Alorro earned his NCAA bid in the pole vault event with by clearing 4.91 meters at the Lions' Last Chance Qualifier held at TCNJ. He is scheduled to compete on Saturday, May 26 at 6:55 p.m. Alorro is one of 16 pole vault specialists in the country participating in the event.
 
Tasco will race in the 800-meter event. He posted his season-best time of 1:51.59 at the IC4A/ECAC Track and Field Championships on May 12. Tasco will compete tomorrow (Friday) night at 10:25 ET and line up against the top competitors in the 800-meter preliminary heats.
 
Lions' senior Alyssa Bannon (Spotswood, NJ/Bishop Ahr) also qualified for the NCAA championships from the women's team. She will race in the 1500-meter event this evening at 7:30 ET.
 
A total of 32 athletes from the New Jersey Athletic Conference qualified for the NCAA championships this spring.
