Dr. Sharon Beverly, assistant vice president of student affairs and executive director of athletics and recreation, and the department of athletics for their academic achievements.
Seniors
Jake Weiss and
Elizabeth Johnson received the Dr. Harold W. Eickoff Outstanding Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athlete awards. The women's cross country team earned the Dr. R. Barbara Gitenstein Team GPA Award. In addition, 134 student-athletes were recognized and annointed 'TCNJ Scholar-Athletes' for maintaining a 3.3 cumulative average or better, while playing a varsity sport.
The Eickhoff awards are given to the senior male and female athlete with the highest grade point average, while competing on one of the college's 20 varsity teams. The awards are named in honor of former college president Dr. Harold W. Eickhoff.
Johnson has been an outstanding middle distance runner for the Lions, earning all-conference honors and contributing to two cross country New Jersey Athletic Conference championships and a pair of NJAC outdoor track & field titles. She is a chemistry major and boasts an overall gpa of 3.989.
Weiss played defensive line for the Lions' football team for the past four season. He started all 10 games in 2014, registering 22 tackles that included a pair of sacks. Weiss is a finance major and boasts an overall gpa of 3.917.
The Dr. R. Barbara Gitenstein Team GPA Award is in honor of TCNJ's current president. The award is presented to the team who best showcases a complete group effort in joining together to achieve the highest team mark The women's cross country team combined to post a team GPA of 3.617, while also winning the 2014 New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship. Several runners were on hand to accept the award.
