Galloway, NJ… The College of New Jersey men's cross country team defended its New Jersey Athletic Conference title Saturday morning at Stockton University. This is the Lions 23
rd straight NJAC championship.
The Lions won with a score of 33 points in the 8000-meter race. Rowan University came in second place with a total of 45 points.
The seniors for TCNJ led the way to defend their conference championship streak.
Andrew Tedeschi (Montville, NJ / Montville) had a strong performance as he came in second place with a time of 25:09.
Brandon Mazzarella (Marlboro, NJ / Manalapan) kicked into gear at the end of the race, passing one of Rowan University's top runners at the line. Mazzarella crossed the finish in 25:21 in fourth place.
TCNJ worked together as a pack to take down the 23
rd ranked team in the nation.
Dale Johnson (West Deptford, NJ / West Deptford) crossed the line in 25:40 to place seventh and make first team all-conference.Â
Quinn Wasko (Carlise, PA / Cumberland Valley) finished in 25:43 in ninth place. Â Rounding out the top five for the Lions was
Matt Saponara (Ringoes, NJ / Hunterdon Central) who placed 11
th with a time of 25:55.
Jeremy Hernandez of Ramapo College won the race in 25:04.
The Lions will next compete in the Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Rowan University on Saturday, November 12
th.
