Ewing, N.J. … The College of New Jersey wrestling team faced Kings College tonight and came away with a 33-6 win.  With the win, TCNJ advances their quest for 700 program victories, as they now sit at 697 program wins. 

Luis Rivera (Landisville, NJ/Buena) got the Lions off on the right foot when he won his 125 weight class matchup with a 5-4 decision. He had a two-point reversal in the final seconds to earn the victory.

Mike Plaska (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) gave TCNJ the 6-0 lead when he defeated Jake Daniels in a 11-9 overtime decision at 133.

Anthony Gagliano (Howell, NJ/Howell) grew the lead to 10-0 for the Lions when he posted a 13-3 major decision at 141.

In the 149 weight class, Giancarlo Crivelli (Lavalette, NJ/Point Pleasant Beach) earned a 12-3 major decision over Tony Immediato to extend the team lead to 14-0.

Nick Herring (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) delivered a dominant 19-9 major decision at 165. Herring is currently ranked ninth nationally in his weight class.

Marcus Sherrod (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Ludlowe) fought hard for a 4-2 overtime decision at 174 to give the Lions a 21-3 edge.

The next two matches ended in pins. Dan Kilroy (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) pinned Nick Price at 184, while Alex Mirabella (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) pinned Devin Steele at 197. The Lions held a 33-3 lead going into the final weight class.

Kings came back to win the final weight class but the Lions secured the match victory by a score of 33-6.

TCNJ is back on the mat on Saturday, November 19, when they travel to York P.A. for the York College Duals. The match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
