Blue/Gold Invitational Results
Ewing, N.J. … The College of New Jersey men's cross country team hosted its annual Blue/Gold Invitational Saturday morning and TCNJ runners took three of the top ten spots in the 5k event. Also participating in the race were a pair of Division I programs in Rider and St. Joesph's University.
Junior
Dale Johnson (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) ran a tremendous race, taking second place overall for the Lions with a time of 15:43. Senior
Brandon Mazzarella (Marlboro, NJ/Manalapan) clocked in at 15.58 for eighth place. Rounding out the top ten was sophomore
Matthew Saponara (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) with a time of 16.04.
Rider's Danniel Belay took first place with a time of 15.39.
Always an enjoyable event for the Lions' cross country program, a large contingency of alumni competed in the race. While their times may not have been the same as their collegiate days, several still race competitively and most continue to be recreational runners.
TCNJ runs next at the Rider Invitational on September 16 at 11 a.m.
