Staten Island, NY… The College of New Jersey men's track and field team competed in the NYC Gotham Cup held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday. The Lions competed against a talented field of athletes including Division I opponents, and
Mike Zurzolo (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) took fourth place out of 32 runners in the 3000 meter event with a mark of 8:52.05. That mark is the second fastest in 3000 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference this season.
In the 800 meter event, a couple of Lions had a strong outing as
Jack Wood (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) took fifth place out of 55 runners with a time of 1:57.30.
Noah Osterhus (Westwood, NJ/Westwood) crossed the finish line at 1:59.62 and claimed 12th place. Wood's time is the third fastest in the conference this season, while Osterhus' is the sixth fastest.
Robert Abrams (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) finished in 10th place out of 32 participants in the 1000 meter event with a mark of 2:33.95 while
Evan Bush (Clarksburg, NJ/Notre Dame) claimed 18th place as he stopped the clock at 2:42.63.
Joey Erskine (Mahwah, NJ/Don Bosco) took 13th place out of 46 in the mile with a time of 4:27.85.
Matthew Kole (Manapalan, NJ/Freehold Twp.) took 15th place in the 3000 meter event as he timed in at 9:12.16.Â
 The Lions will resume action on Saturday, January 20
th when they will compete in the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College.
