Madison, NJ... The College of New Jersey men's soccer team netted a pair of goals in the second half to break a scoreless tie as the Lions blanked the College of Staten Island 2-0 on Saturday in the opening round of the Drew University Fall Festival.
 
TCNJ caps its busy stretch of three games in six days on Sunday when they take on Roanoke College.
 
After a scoreless opening frame, sophomore Peter Dresch (Highland Park, NJ/St. Joseph's) put the Lions in front 8:44 into the second half with an assist from junior Thomas Hogue (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic) and Domenic Polidoro (Monroe, NJ/Monroe).
 
Junior Nick Costelloe (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) then tacked on an insurance goal with 16:32 left in the game. That goal was his second of the season and came on an assist from Michael Kassak (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown).
 
Junior Jake Nesteruk (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) made one save to record the shutout.
